I made this baby quilt a few weeks ago, but had to wait until after the shower for the big reveal. This quilt is for our friends who are having a baby boy next month. I based the colors off of their baby bedding, which is a teal, brown and green safari theme.

I knew I wanted to make a brick road quilt, so I cut out rectangular blocks (2.5"x5") and arranged them in this geometric pattern. I used 1/3 yard of each solid and then 1.5 yards of the stripes for the backing and binding. The final quilt is about 32"x38" (but I'm totally guessing because I forgot to measure it when I was finished).

Its darling! I love it. I'm sure it will go perfectly in the baby's room.

What a simple quilt but it almost looks like it has an optical illusion in it. It looks great and I am sure they will love it!

Great color combo! Also love the striped binding/backing; I would have been nervous to use it for both, but it turned out great.
Did you strip piece the top, or sew the individual rectangles?

Wow - that is wonderful, I love the color combo and the pattern! I'm making a brick road quilt out of repro prints, but so far I've only got the cutting done, lol. Yours is just amazing! Perfect binding and backing.

So cute! It kind of reminds me of a basketweave if you look at it out of the corner of your eye hehe The stripey back is lovely!

I love these colors. Awesome quilt. Perfect for boy or girl. Maybe it's because I like non-girly colors.

I still can't believe how fast you can "whip off" a baby quilt! I LOOOOVE those colours too!! So much more vibrant than typical baby stuff. I agree with everybody above...and I want one for me too!
